 Thme OASIS
The concept of a modular and autonomous entity, called object, actor, agent or animats, federates this team's research in the areas of multi-agent systems, adaptive software and robots, databases (coherency, design methodologies, learning), metamodeling, and application frameworks mixing software engineering and Artificial Intelligence.

The Agent based Digital Library Infrastructure Project
The aim of this project is to create a Virtual Community Library: in the architecture a digital library is seen as a decentralized collection of interacting self-interested agents where an agent represents the knowledge and interests of an individual user. Each user can benefit from the work put into the other libraries. E.g. by obtaining documents through search queries or recommendations using social filtering and also by getting help to organize the personal library.

Soar Project - University of Southern California
The Soar project is a long-term, multi-disciplinary, multi-site attempt at building, understanding, and applying an integrated model of intelligent behavior that can serve both as a useful AI system and as a unified theory of human cognition. At the University of Southern California, the Soar project is joint between the Information Sciences Institute (ISI) and the Computer Science Department.

The Animate Agent Project - University of Chicago
The Animate Agent Project is part of an on-going effort at the University of Chicago to understand the mechanisms required to create intelligent software and hardware agents that can work alongside people. Current projects are aimed at building a system that integrates reactive control and purposive vision to support interactive, task execution and human/machine communication.

Next Link Project - Stanford University
Next-Link is a SHARE project to develop a generic agent and framework that will coordinate the work of other engineering agents, especially in the case of conflicts.

 PARAgente: Agents for people
PARAgente is a comprehensive research initiative aimed at investigating the issues, requirements and potential of interfaces which are based on user agents. Research is being conducted at the Center for the Study of Digital Libraries, within the Department of Computer Science of Texas A&M University.

 GroupLens - University of Minnesota
The GroupLens Research Project is a research group in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. Members of the GroupLens Research Project are involved in many research projects related to the fields of information filtering, collaborative filtering and recommender systems.

Knowledge Media Institute - Open University
Knowledge Media' encompasses a broad programme of research into new learner-centred technologies, including Internet-enhanced collaboration media, multimedia environments for disabled learners, intelligent agents, organisational memories, digital documents, scientific visualisation and simulation tools, etc.

Intelligent Agents Project at IBM T.J. Watson Research
IBM T.J. Watson Research wants to develop intelligent agent technology that is highly reusable and easy to integrate with a broad spectrum of networked applications. Their reusable intelligent agents technology is embodied as an extensible structured class library, called RAISE for: Reusable Agent Intelligence Software Environment.

 The Fishmarket Project
This project studies how to build agent-mediated institutions that may prove useful for electronic commerce. FM is an electronic auction house, based on the traditional fish market, where agents of arbitrary complexity may trade over a reliable network under fair, robust and lively conditions.
